AR (and other strange things)

On Wednesday, I was finally informed that AR was back up, and I was able to grab a 100. I am so happy. now all I need to do is my letter essay, witch is coming along great. I love my piggies so much now, that for Christmas I want some more racks to add a second story onto their cage. It will be so cool! when I can get the camera hooked up, I'll posed some pictures.
Until then, stay warm and happy holidays!

Today as I walked into school, I was shure I would make a 100 on my AR test. After trying 4 compurers, I reached the sad conclusion that the intornet was down. I hope they get it back up by tomorow! I need to take my test befor I forget everything! Wish me luck!

These last few days I have found myself sleeping in late, and whearing cumfy PJ pants around the house. I would say that I am making the most of my Thanks Giving holiday-the holliday that is no more. Tomorow I will be heding back to school. (sigh) With two days of science left and neer three weeks of Socal studies to come, I am glad I even have the corage to go back! Oh well. Atleest I have my AR points (I think) and friends. I don't think I could live another day in school if it weren't for my friends! And my story. math class isn't to bad when you can wright your story in the boring parts!

Hi!

I know that I have let you down. things have been very busy with school and all, but today I had some spare time.

My Halloween costume:

I can't rotate the picture, but you can still see it!

The guinea pigs and I are having a blast. here are some of their newly discovered toys!

Lilly has found that she likes my fanny pack

And both Duchess and Lilly LOVE the barn

Scrolling through my camera I found that Alyssa had taken some pictures. I named this one (with the help of my mom) "What the guinea pig sees!"

That is all I have time for.
Uploading images takes a lot of time!

new descovery

I can fit in the guinea pig cage!

it is lage enoff, so we took the picture above. I also figured out that if you cover Duchess with hay, she dose not care, wale if you cover Lilly with hay, she gets freaked out and runs away. :)

Duchess Goes to the Vet

As we were driving home from church on Sunday, Kara called us with some disturbing news. Duchess was all curled up sideways, and she couldn't straighten out, and she wasn't walking well. The fear was she might have had a stroke.

And of course, these kind of things always have to happen on Sunday. Fortunately, we were able to get a referral to Ridglea West Animal Hospital, which specializes in exotic pets. I would have never considered a guinea pig to be "exotic," but there you go.

The vet, who's home and cell number were on the after hours answering machine, said based on the symptoms he thought Duchess had an ear infection. This messed up her balance, and caused her to basically run in circles instead of a straight line.

We fed her some parsley, which I guess has quite a bit of vitamin C, and then the next day Duchie and I made a trip to the vet.

Long story short, she's on antibiotics, doing great, walking almost straight, and back to running away from us when we try to pick her up.

All for less than $150. Waah!

poem for school

I had to re-write a paper for school, and my parents said I should post it on my blog. so here it is!

Things you need to know

Play some, learn some, love some.

Stay beside a friend around the clock.

Hold some one you love in your arms at least once a day.

Help each other out when the going gets tough.

Speak up, and some one will hear you.

Remember that you are never alone.

Listen close, and you will hear what others are telling you.

Be unique.

Be yourself.

Wake-up call

Hello, Mom here. This morning at 8:00 A.M. I was awakened by: "Mom, can you hold Lillie and keep her warm?" I opened my eyes to see Anna holding our baby guinea pig wrapped in a hand towel, freshly bathed with curly hair and all. She looked like wet rat, only cuter. I laid her on the bed next to my legs and she snuggled right up to me.

Oh, isn't it great to be loved?! Ha, ha!

That got the day off to an interesting start. When Anna got up and went to check on the piggies they were both in various states of a mess for some reason, so at 7:45 a.m. they went in the tub.

In the early hours of the afternoon, I was alerted that Duchess (the grandma) was bleeding in her mouth. Anna said she gave her some lettuce and it went away.

The whole story was that Anna was holding Duchess and went to put her back in the cage. Duchess has this habit of trying to jump in if you're not holding on real tight. Well, she succeeded today. She made this super-woman leap into the cage and apparently hit her upper lip on the top edge of the coroplast (plastic cardboard). So, now we have a guinea pig with a fat lip. I doctored her up with my homeopathic kit. She loved the little sugar pellet. Tonight she is doing fine except it looks like she has lipstick on one half of her lip. Funny!

So, all in all it's been a good day. We are all still alive and the guinea pigs are still clean. Hooray!

Meet Lilly and Poppy

We had a little change in plans. The piggies were supposed to come to our house after Anna came home on Wednesday, but their previous owner needed to bring them by today.

Please say hello to Lilly and Poppy.

Coroplast is in!

Hi, all. Dad here. Anna is visiting her grandma this week, but that doesn't mean the guinea pig project is on hold. It just means it's my turn to work.

Anna purchased a large sheet of coroplast (short for corrugated plastic) and today one of my jobs was to cut it so it would fit into the cage as the floor. And it does! Hooray for geometry!

Another purfict misstep.

My dad and I were out doing some arenas, when I talked him in to letting me stop to look at Petco for approximately 10 minuets. we walked through the dores, and there was a lady, getting ready to donate four 6 week old guinea pigs to petco. we start Talking, and what it comes down to is that she will hold the two girls for us until we get back from Washington (2 weeks from today) they are ADORABLE! one has 2 black spots on her knows, and a few others on her body:

and the secant one has brown between two black spots on her knows, and her body is all white. while I was holding that one and my dad was holding the other girl, they both started "wheping"(that is a sound guinea pigs sometimes make) and then they pooped on us! "synchronised Pooping!" my dad said. well, where was one good side to that. one way you can tell if a guinea pig is healthy is if their poo is firm but still moist and in a good pellet shape. and it was! (no diyorea) I am hopping I can talk my mom into letting me have both. (guinea pigs are very social animals) and since they where born in the same litter, they are more likely to like each other. also, the lady said she had a cage we could have if we wanted. wow! how much luck do we have, any way! (Free cage, Free guinea pigs!)

To my commenters

Cool! I am glad to see that someone else dosn't like empteing the dishwasher!

Someone asked me to tell them about guinea pigs. I could, but it would take a long time, and I only have a short time. I will tell you all that you want to know about guinea pigs latter. I have to go to bed now. See you tomorow!

Rat Cage For Guinea Pigs

Hi! things have been spinning around here! we where able to find a lady with a rat cage she wasn't using, so she gave it to us! she was (and still is) so generous! it is for the guinea pig(s) that we are hoping to get! here is the picture of how the cage is supposed to look:

but, ours dosn't look like that. the platforms are lowered so a guinea pig can clime up the ramps, and the lower platform and ramp are a little diffrent. the ramp is connected to the front rather then to the back, and we have a mettle lid over the bottom platform so that the guinea pig(s) don't fall through the hole, but is is a little slippery. please leave a comment if you have any ideas how to make it not quite so slippery.
